BrewDog’s ‘CEO of beer’ Andy Shaw has left his role after only five months in the job, The Grocer has revealed.

The former Red Bull UK MD was appointed in February to lead its global sales and marketing operations. BrewDog CEO James Watt confirmed his departure but did not comment on the reasons for it.

Former retail CEO David McDowall has been promoted to a new role of group COO, and will have “full P&L control over both BrewDog Retail and HQ Beer”, said Watt.

Earlier this year BrewDog updated its manifesto of pledges across the business, six months after its Blueprint was launched. It said it was in “late stages negotiations to agree legals on our first EFP franchise sites”.
