The British Institute of Innkeeping (BII) has appointed Seafood Pub Company founder Joycelyn Neve as a non-executive director.

The group said Neve’s experience of running pubs with a strong food offering made her an ideal non-executive director for the BII.

Neve said: “The BII wants people to recognise the opportunities available in the hospitality sector, and see it as a credible career that you can do very well in. This perfectly aligns with what I am trying to instil in my team, and indeed what I have achieved in my own career, so I am keen to help build this awareness both within and outside of the industry. I also hope to be heavily involved with the training bodies provided by the BII including the British Institute of Innkeeping Awarding Body (BIIAB) and Academy of Food and Wine Service (AFWS), and help those members who are looking to improve the food offering at their own pubs.”

Tim Hulme, BII chief executive, said: “We’re proud to announce Joycelyn is our latest non-executive director, as she personifies exactly what we want to prove to entrants to the industry; that you can build a successful career in hospitality that will be hugely rewarding. Furthermore, as a considered food offering becomes ever more important to pubs, we believe she will provide exceptional insight for our members on developing this.”
