MCA understands that Diageo’s head of alcohol in society, Mark Baird, is to leave the company after eight years.

Baird has been a key figure in the public debate over alcohol consumption over the past few years and was previously programme director of the Scottish Government & Alcohol Industry Partnership – a joint venture between the Scottish Government and key players in the alcohol industry in Scotland to promote responsible drinking and tackle alcohol related harm.

He joined Diageo in 2009 as CSR manager before moving to the role of head of industry affairs and alcohol policy. He has been in his current role since June 2014.

MCA understands he will leave Diageo in April next year.
