Jim Attwood, formerly of Costa, has formerly joined Coco di Mama, the Azzurri Group-backed, quick-service Italian concept, as its new managing director.

As revealed by MCA earlier this summer, Attwood joins the 22-strong brand after nine years at Whitbread, most recently as partnerships director for Costa UK & Ireland.

He replaces Roberto Moretti, the former chief operating officer of Bill’s, who had been interim managing director of Coco di Mama since last June, and has since been named UK managing director for Vapiano.

Azzurri Group chief executive Stephen Holmes told MCA earlier this summer: “Jim brings with him a wealth of experience having spent 14 years with Whitbread in a wide range of senior roles including Finance, Franchising and Strategy Director. Most recently in his role as Partnerships Director for Costa, Jim has led rapid growth to over a thousand franchise stores and Costa’s wholesale business, whilst balancing a focus on customer obsession and developing talent across his teams.

“With Jim’s highly relevant experience combined with his energy and passion I’ve no doubt he will fit seamlessly into the team and be hugely successful in leading Coco di Mama on the next phase of its exciting journey as we turn Coco from an entrepreneurial fledgling brand in to one of the UK’s leading quick service food businesses.”
