Joffe family mainstay Sam Anstey has resigned as operations director to pursue new opportunities, MCA understands.

Anstey, who is the son-in-law of Giraffe founders Russel and Juliette Joffe, has been with Laurel Canyon Ventures, which is behind Chooks, Chez Bob, Bob’s Café and Monkeynuts, since 2016.

Anstey previously worked with the Joffes at Giraffe, starting in 2002 and part of the original management team that took it from three to 65 restaurants.

Departing as franchise and marketing director after its sale to Tesco, Anstey helped create the Wondertree and the Giraffe Stop QSR brands at Heathrow T5.

Laurel Canyon Ventures is led Gideon, son of Russel and Juliette, and currently has three Bob’s Cafes, its core all-day neighbourhood café and restaurant, one Chez Bob, restaurant, and one Monkeynuts restaurant.

Russel Joffe recently worked with TRG Concessions on the development of Sonoma, a California-inspired, £3m investment, 300-cover restaurant brand at Gatwick’s North Terminal.
