Cha Cha Moon, the Chinese casual dining noodle concept created by Alan Yau, has closed its restaurant at the Whiteleys shopping centre in Bayswater - less than a year after it opened. KFG, the Kuwait-based restaurant group that owns Cha Cha Moon, confirmed that the restaurant’s last day of trading was the 14 November, but has declined to comment on the reason for the site’s closure. However it is believed that the site at Whiteleys had suffered poorer trading than its Soho counterpart. It opened at the end of February 2009 and was the second Cha Cha Moon after the original venue launched on Ganton Street in summer 2008. It is understood that the group is planning to open another Cha Cha Moon to replace the closed site, but has not given details of its location. Yau told M&C Report earlier this year that he had ambitions to open 100 outlets under the Cha Cha Moon format in the UK and internationally over the next 10 years. He said that the low price point of the concept was in tune with consumer's increasing search for value.
