Wrapid, the healthy fast-food operation, is to rollout new self-service dispense systems into university halls, M&C Report has learnt.

In the latest extension for the group, which specialises in concession units, Wrapid has signed a deal with Nido, which operates three students residences in London, and Pure Student Living, which has four locations in the city, to introduce up to 12 systems as part of a trial.

Wrapid has created a vending system that offers allows its menu range, which includes burritos and wraps, to be reheated using a self-service format.

Company co-owner Stephen Minall said: “Interestingly the units in the right location can generate over 40 to 60 sales per location per day, generating a percentage income for the growing the student accommodation companies.”

Last week Minall told M&C Report that Wrapid hopes to open another 20 concessions this year. About half of these are expected to be hospitals - the format is currently in place in 15 hospitals with talks currently on-going for a further five.

He expects to open more with contract caterers including Amadeus and OCS. Last year the group secured a listing for two of its wraps on flights operated by Thomson Air, and Minall added: “We’re in talks with another couple of airlines.”
