Indian burrito concept Wrapchic is to open sites in Birmingham International Airport and Walsall this week as it extends its reach in the Midlands.

Opening on Wednesday (21 March), the Birmingham airport store will be located on the ground floor of the north terminal, while the Walsall site will open at 19 Park Street on Friday (23 March).

The business also has an opening planned for later this month in Preston, at 91a Fishergate, which would take its UK site tally to 17.

Last month MCA reported that Paolo Peretti had stepped down as managing director of Vital Ingredient to join the board of Wrapchic, as a non-executive director.

Wrapchic also recently opened in Soho Square and Leicester’s Galloway Gate.

Last year, chief executive and founder Mahesh Raikar told MCA that Wrapchic was repositioning itself into a more Indian grab and go model, with the first store under the new format opened in Solihull.

The rest of the group’s estate is due to be reformatted under the new branding and service style in Q1 2018.
