Marco Pierre White, the chef and restaurateur, has sold the lease of his Criterion restaurant in Piccadilly, London, to Vasily Sopromadze, a Georgian property entrepreneur, for a premium of £1.25m.

As part of the agreement, Sopromadze’s subsidiary Vox Restaurant will take over the management of the fine dining restaurant.

The Georgian businessman is understood to be looking to acquire four or five further restaurants.

The deal is the latest sale by White Star Line, the chef’s holding company, which also disposed of Drones, Quo Vadis and the Mirabelle, currently leaving it with only two sites, the Belvedere and L’Escargot, in its restaurant portfolio.
