Colin Wellstead, the former head of pubs and restaurants at Christie & Co, has taken the chair at AG&G, a smaller rival.

Wellstead, who left Christie in December 2007 and has also worked at Bass and Whitbread, said he was looking forward to teaming up with the three founders of AG&G, who were fast garnering a strong reputation in the market.

He said: “Working with a boutique agency of senior experts will be a very different challenge from my past life.

“I’ve known the partners for many years and have great respect for their skills and what they have achieved.”

AG&G was set up in 2000 by chartered surveyors Anthony Alder, James Grimes and David Gooderham
