Turtle Bay, the five-strong Caribbean restaurant chain led by Aj Jaya-Wickrema, is looking to grow its presence in the South East, and is currently in talks regarding its first site in London, M&C Report understands.

The company, which is backed by Piper Private Equity, is understood to be in talks to open a site in Ealing and at the Land Securities development of the former Sussex House site in Crawley.

Jaya-Wickrema told M&C Report that the group was “trading well” and he was confident that it would beat its target of opening five sites this year.

The group will open its next site in Leamington in March, which will be followed by openings in Birmingham, Bath and Manchester.

The company, in which Piper has made a £6m investment, is also believed to be looking at possible locations in Cardiff.

It plans to open a further 20 outlets over the next three to five years.
