A UK ban on transfats could be close, according to Health Secretary Alan Johnson.
However, health campaigner Oliver Tickell of pressure group tfX says that recent voluntary restrictions by industrial vegetable oil suppliers have effectively banned the harmful fats from British food already.
Food containing more than 2% transfats is already banned in Denmark.
