Timothy Taylor, the West Yorkshire brewer and pub operator, has begun its search for a new chief executive to replace managing director Charles Dent.

M&C Report revealed last year that Dent is to retire as managing director in December 2014 to become chairman of the company. He also revealed that his replacement would not be a family member, saying: “There are family members in their 30s, but we need a bridge to that generation.”

Clarity Search, an executive search firm focused on the retail and consumer sectors, has been appointed to find the new chief executive.

Timothy Taylor said: “Initially, the incoming CEO will work closely with Charles Dent to understand the heritage and key drivers of the business and subsequently develop a clear future brand and channel strategy which delivers long term sustainable profitability and shareholder returns and recognises the role that Timothy Taylor plays in its local community.

“Candidates for this role will have empathy for small family owned businesses and a clear understanding of protecting and growing a premium brand in a niche market where quality is paramount to the delivery of consumer satisfaction.”
