The Estrella Damn National Restaurant Awards has launched a ‘Top 100’ charity auction, with all proceeds going to support the hospitality industry.

With the awards unable to take place this year because of the coronavirus crisis, the organizers have partnered with Hospitality Action to auction off a series of experiences in association with the Top 100 list past and present.

From 24 August, interested parties can take part in the online auction to win prizes including a weekend trip to Barcelona with a meal at El Celler de Can Roca, a meal at Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and a suite in the Mandarin Oriental, or a cooking masterclass and meal at Core by Clare Smyth.

Other prizes include a Chinatown experience with chef Andrew Wong, a foraging and dining experience with chef Tommy Banks in North Yorkshire and a chauffer driven food tour of Corbin & King’s restaurants.

“We welcome the Top 100 Auction initiative in bringing together some of the country’s best restaurants and chefs to raise funds for our Hospitality Recovery Fund,” said Hospitality Action.

“This auction sees the cream of the UK’s restaurant sector pulling together with some fantastic lots to help the wider hospitality sector and support those who really need it.

“We’re braced for a tidal wave of requests for longer-term support in the coming weeks, months and years. And we’re ready to harness all our expertise to provide ongoing assistance to the people at the sharp end of the pandemic, thanks to our Hospitality Recovery Fund and initiatives such as the Top 100 Auction that help support it.”

The auction will go live on 24 August, with bidding set to take place at www.NationalRestaurantAwards.co.uk/bid.
