Telepizza is launching an on-line pizza delivery service in Spain, following a deal with the Telefonica telecommunications giant. The agreement links up Spain's biggest pizza operator with the country's leading domestic web site and call centre service, both owned by Telefonica.

Telepizza's 512 outlets already account for 85% of Spain's fast-food-at-home market. Telefonica has also taken a 5% stake in Telepizza for around £60m. The plan is to deliver a range of other goods bought via the website or call centre using Telepizza's fleet of 15,000 mopeds.

The move mirrors similar ventures in the US, including kozmo.com and urbanfetch.com, which it is said is considering a move to Europe.
