In a sign that its initial move into the franchising market has proved a success, Starbucks UK is looking to appoint a franchise director.

The c700-strong group signed its inaugural franchise agreement earlier this year, which saw its first franchise store in the UK, open in Liphook, Hampshire. It is thought to be now looking at signing similar agreements in other parts of the country.

The group believes franchising will help it build the Starbucks brand in those towns and locations we have not yet had the opportunity to serve.

The Liphook site is part of an eight-store deal with local Hampshire entrepreneurs 23.5 Degrees that is expected to create over 100 new jobs in the Dorset and Hampshire area.

During this year, 23.5 Degrees will open additional Starbucks franchise stores in Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Farnborough, Trowbrige and Southampton, amongst other locations. Each new store opening will create between 15-18 new local jobs.
