South London pub group Renaissance is making a move into rooms by opening its first boutique hotel above The Tommyfield in Kennington this spring.

The Tommyfield Hotel Rooms will be spread over two upper floors of the pub at Kennington Cross, which dates back to 1746.

Renaissance Pubs founders Tom Peake, Mark Reynolds and Nick Fox have hinted that the Kennington hotel will be the first of many similar projects for the six-strong group, which celebrated its 10th birthday in 2013.

Renaissance has also hinted that “another major announcement” is on the cards early this year, and that “substantial refurbishments” are to be made to the gardens this spring at The Stonhouse and The Avalon in Clapham.
