Quiznos, the US sandwich chain, has outlined plans for UK openings in early 2014, with four planned over the next three months or so, M&C Report has learnt.

Jack Rai, Quiznos UK development agent, told M&C Report that the company will open two stores in the next four to six weeks, followed by a further two in nine to 12 weeks time. Quiznos is focusing on London and the south east for its initial expansion.

A UK website, www.quiznossub.co.uk, has also been launched.

In September, M&C reported that Quiznos was looking to re-start its expansion in the UK by adding 15 sites by the end of 2014 under a new franchise model; there will be no master franchisee for the UK but instead individual franchisees will be given “corporate support”.

The company, which has sites in 34 countries, has operated three corporate outlets in the UK since a previous master franchise agreement was terminated in 2010. At its height there were c30 in the UK.

In 2012 the US company announced that it was aiming for modest growth after it was rescued by hedge fund Avenue Capital as part of a debt restructuring deal.
