Pret A Manger, the Bridgepoint-owned chain, has appointed Adam Jones, All3Media’s former chief financial officer, as its new finance director, M&C Report has learnt.

The appointment of Jones, who was also formerly the senior vice president of NBC Universal, follows the promotion of former finance director Nick Candler to the role of chief operating officer.

The group has also appointed Jon Temple as its finance director the UK.

Amongst his responsibilities, Candler, who has been with the company since 2006 and formerly finance director at Allied Domecq, is overseeing the development of group’s regional estate and its operations in France.

The c300-strong company is currently “dialling up its energies around coffee”.

Marketing director Mark Palmer told M&C Report last year: “We will be giving coffee a similar treatment to the Pret food treatment, that is not about advertising, but about investing in barista training, back counter presentation. There will be some marketing outside of the stores, but 95% of that spend will be at shop level making it work in that environment.”

The company has recently ramped up the rollout of its regional concept, which features a more relaxed coffee shop environment, with openings in Crawley, St Albans, Peterborough and Leicester.
