Pizza Express, the Gondola Group-owned business, has hired Vivek Mathur as chief executive for its new venture in India.
Last year, Gondola signed a 50-50 joint venture with the Bharti Family to open restaurants under its Pizza Express brand in India. The first restaurant under the new agreement will open by the end of this year in either Mumbai or Delhi.
Mathur joins Pizza Express from the Godrej Group, where he was president of innovation, marketing and sales.
It is understood that further senior appointments will be made to the pizza chain’s India operation over the coming months.
