Pix Pintxos, the late-night Spanish pinxto bar concept, is believed to be close to securing its fifth site in London’s Soho, M&C Report understands.

The company, which is the brainchild of owner and manager John Thornhill, is understood to be close to securing the former Sherry’s unit in Ganton Street for an opening later this spring.

The group opened two sites last year at the former Equation restaurant in Upper Street and on the Fish Pond fish & chips site in Portobello Road.

Pix, which offers a range of Catalan pintxos inspired by those found in Barcelona, accompanied by a range of Spanish wines, beers and cocktails, had previously operated three sites in the capital, but sold its unit in Westbourne Grove to Bill Granger, the Australian chef and restaurateur, in August 2011.

The chain opened its first site in September 2009 at Notting Hill’s former Tea Palace, which was followed by a further site in Covent Garden’s Neal Street.
