The future of the Petersham Nurseries Café is reportedly in doubt following a dispute with Richmond upon Thames council over the amount of traffic problems it causes. Richmond council’s planning commission is set to meet in the next couple of weeks to discuss the popular eatery’s fate after only granting Petersham Nurseries a 12-month licence for continued mix use in December 2007. The licence was granted on the proviso that the venue reduced the amount of visitors that used a car to get there. The café, which is only open for lunch five days, has reduced car parking spaces and all deliveries now take place in off-peak hours. It said that in the 12 months to December it had reduced the amount of visits by car to the café by a quarter.
