Papa John’s, the pizza delivery firm, has signed up two new franchisees who hope to open up to 35 new sites between them in Scotland and northern England over the next few years.

Steve Mullarkey has opened his first Papa John’s site in Warrington, Cheshire, and has signed up to open five more.

For new stores opening in Wales, the Midlands, northern England and Scotland, the group is currently offering a 12-month royalty break if opened by July 2014 or a nine-month royalty break for stores opening before the end of 2014.

Mullarkey said: “The franchisee incentive deals I was offered have enabled me to commit to opening five stores. However, my plans don’t stop there. I aim to open between 10-15 Papa John’s over the next five years, all of which will be situated in the north west.

“St Helens will be open in the next couple of months, then several more will follow.”

Another franchisee, Dan Wilkinson, has opened a new store in Durham after recently taking on two stores in Liverpool. He aims to open a further 10 to 20 new Papa John’s outlets in the north and Scotland over the next few years.

Wilkinson said: “I have been lucky to take advantage of some of the incentives that Papa John’s is currently offering franchisees and will add another store in Harrogate soon.”

Last month Papa John’s said it planned to add a further 50 new openings in the UK over 12 months.
