Outback Steakhouse, the Australian-themed American restaurant chain, has announced it is to open its first site in the UK, in Wandsworth, south London on June 6 2001. It also has four other locations that are in solicitor's hands.

Aussie (UK), the company set up with the Dublin-based Entertainment Enterprises and Phil Broad, formerly TGI Friday's managing director, is planning to roll out the concept to 150 sites in the UK over the next five years.

The company is looking for freehold or leasehold units of approximately 6,000 sq ft with a minimum of 4,800 sq ft on the ground floor. Suitable sites include roadsides, standalones, retail parks, shopping and town centres or leisure parks in good secondary and tertiary locations.
