Wasabi, Rhythm Kitchen and Thai Express have become the latest operators to sign up for units at the £9m redevelopment of Lakeside shopping centre’s food court.

The brands will join Harpers British Classics at the scheme, which is expected to be completed by April.

It is thought that Five Guys and My Pasta Bar, the new fast-casual Italian restaurant fronted by TV chef Gino D’Acampo, are also close to agreeing to open at the development.

The Lakeside openings will be the second and third sites for Rhythm Kitchen and Thai Express respectively.

Intu is remodelling the food court, including the introduction of new operators to broaden the catering offer; resizing units for existing tenants and enhancing the dining hall.

Units in the new space range from 400 sq ft to 3,000 sq ft – some with their own seating while smaller units will share the communal seating area.

Intu is expecting to sign 13 new leases for the space.

The existing food court houses brands including Burger King, KFC, Ed’s Easy Diner and Pizza Express.

The redevelopment is intended to complement the existing Boardwalk al fresco restaurant area near the lake adjacent to the centre.

CWM and Lunson Mitchenall are handling the letting process.
