Shaftesbury Capital has announced that The EL&N Deli & Bakery, a brand-new concept from the café and lifestyle brand EL&N, is set to open in Covent Garden’s heritage-listed Market Building in July.

The concept represents a new arm of the EL&N brand, built around the brand’s core menu of brunch classics, introducing a new range of freshly prepared, artisanal bakery products, including fresh focaccias and a range of sweet and savoury pastries.

The space offers room for 14 diners inside the 650 sq ft Market Building space and a terrace with 54 al fresco dining covers.

The Mexican-inspired, quick-service restaurant has opened its doors at Hammerson’s Birmingham city centre destination, Bullring & Grand Central.

The Australian-born brand continues to rapidly expand across the UK, with this new location on the Bullring’s middle level. The 580 sq ft space offers a relaxed dining ‘Feel Good Mex’ menu, with a focus on fusion flavours; a contemporary twist on freshly prepared Mexican favourites such as burritos, bowls, tacos and nachos.

 

Six by Nico, Oxford

The restaurant group known for its rotating six-course tasting menus reveals a new Oxford location at Westgate, servicing its “The Chippie” menu.

This nostalgic chip shop-inspired menu, an old favourite of the Six by Nico brand, offers a creative twist on this classic British meal, and takes inspiration from chef Nico Simeone’s family fish shop in Glasgow.

The menu features re-imagined dishes like Chips & Cheese with parmesan espuma and curry oil and emulsion with crisp potato terrine, Scampi served with brandade, dill emulsion, gribiche, peas and beurre blanc, a modern take on the traditional Fish Supper with scrabster coley, pickled mussels, confit fennel, samphire and beer emulsion. 

 

Kung Fu Burger, Chinatown

New Chinese burger concept, Kung Fu Burger, is set to join Chinatown London’s Shaftesbury Avenue in what will be the destination’s fourth partnership with restaurateur, Alex Xu.

Inspired by the current street food phenomenon sweeping the ESEA region,  a 100 sq ft kiosk will serve of a range of burgers, featuring a sourdough Chinese-style bun and a variety of fillings, from shredded pork belly – the most popular version – to chicken, and vegetables.

 

Chez Rouz, The Langham

Michel Roux has opened Chez Roux, a new restaurant in Palm Court at The Langham, London. 

The restaurant has been inspired by Michel’s childhood memories: life in rural Kent in the 1960s, being raised at the Fairlawne estate where his father Albert Roux OBE worked as a private chef for the Cazalet family, and the first menus from Le Gavroche in 1967.  

Menus showcase historical British classics and traditional French cooking methods, presented in contemporary, refined dishes.  

 

Fantomas, Chelsea

The Sloane Stanley Estate has announced that Fantomas,  a new gastronomic concept from George Bukhov-Weinstein and Ilya Demichev, is set to open on King’s Road later this summer.

The restaurant will be headed up by chef Chris Denney, and will occupy a prominent corner unit at 300 King’s Road, taking a 2,000 sq ft space with up to 80 covers inside and outside.

Fantomas will serve a Modern European cuisine incorporating elements of Asian flavours, particularly Japanese. The new restaurant is set to open in early July.
