NQ64, Shoreditch


Arcade bar concept NQ64 will launch its biggest site yet on London’s Old Street in May, adding to its current estate of venues in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Newcastle. The concept is centred on retro arcade games, craft beer, and game-themed cocktails, as well as a new food offer for the new 9,000 sq ft, 450-cover venue.

Karen’s Diner, the Hadley Hotel, Barnet


Australian restaurant chain Karen’s Diner has partnered with the Hadley Hotel in Barnet to open on 10 March. The chain, billed as an interactive theatrical experience, opened in Sheffield, Manchester, and Birmingham last year. It is known for its burgers and for instructing staff to be deliberately rude to customers.

The ‘overnight experience’ at the Hadley offers guests a chance to eat at the Karen’s restaurant and stay in the hotel overnight. The group will also open restaurants in Newport, Wales, on 17 February and Islington, London on 14 April, while running pop-ups in cities including Brighton, Bristol, and Glasgow this year.

Gouqi, Trafalgar Square


Former Hakkasan executive chef Chee Hwee Tong has opened a high-end restaurant combining techniques, flavours, dishes, and ingredients from across China near Trafalgar Square. The offer includes Peking duck with caviar, slow cooked wagyu, and dim sum platters, along with a range of appetisers, soups, barbecue dishes, meat, and seafood.

Osteria del Macellaio, Borough

Italian restaurant Macellaio RC on London’s Union Street has announced it will rebrand to Osteria del Macellaio on 22 February. The restaurant will serve a new menu showcasing high quality meat and all parts of the cow, with cuts not often seen on menus in the UK, while celebrating the artisanal sustainability of Italian and British butchers.

Perks & White, Piccadilly Circus

South London neighbourhood coffee house Perks & White is expanding to central London with an opening in St James’ Market on 28 February. The 30-cover café will offer specialty coffee, pastries, and breakfast and lunch options made on-site daily, including foccacias and sourdough sandwiches.
