MCA rounds up this week’s biggest openings stories, featuring new venues from Browns Brasserie, Five Guys, Black Sheep Coffee and more

Browns Brasserie & Bar, Marriott Cardiff

Browns opened its first Wales location on 13 February at the Marriott Cardiff. The new venue offers a 1920s-inspired art deco interior, an outdoor terrace, and a brasserie menu with a cocktail list and wine and champagne selection.

It will also offer afternoon teas, bottomless brunches, Sunday roasts, and weekly live piano performances.

 

Pizza East, Shoreditch

The Gordon Ramsay Group has acquired the Pizza East brand, with the group’s flagship restaurant in London’s Shoreditch to reopen in the coming months. This will see the brand leave Soho House after 14 years.

According to MCA’s sister title BigHospitality, Pizza East will open with a refreshed menu developed by the Gordon Ramsay Group, and be positioned as a more elevated counterpoint to the group’s Street Pizza brand.

 

Crudo Cevicheria, Covent Garden

Build-your-own cevicheria concept Crudo will open a fourth site in London’s Seven Dials, at 36 Monmouth Street, in March. The 362 sq ft, 20-cover space will spotlight the Peruvian classic, ceviche, along with an experimental menu of ceviche-inspired flavours, small plates, and tiraditos.

There will also be an upstairs bar serving signature cocktails.

 

Black Sheep Coffee, Milton Keynes

Black Sheep Coffee will continue its expansion with a 1,637 sq ft unit at retail and leisure destination centre:mk, its first site in Milton Keynes, opening in May. The store will offer the brand’s menu of specialty grade Robusta beans, along with Norwegian waffles, smoothies, shakes, and light bites.

 

Five Guys, Bracknell

Five Guys

Five Guys will open a 58-cover, 3,000 sq ft restaurant at The Lexicon in Bracknell, Berkshire, in May. The new site will add to the brand’s 150-strong UK portfolio as it looks to town centre sites amid plans to grow further across the UK.

 

Pizza Taxi, Greenwich

Street food brand Pizza Taxi will launch its first location at Canteen, a food hall in East London’s Greenwich. It offers pizza by the slice with toppings inspired by international flavours, such as coconut jackfruit curry, as well as more traditional options.

 

Taro, Walthamstow

Japanese Restaurant Group Taro will open its sixth London venue in a Grade II listed building on 20 February in Walthamstow. The 90-cover venue will serve a range of bento, donburi, sushi, sashimi, and udon and ramen bowls, plus a drinks list including sake, Japanese beer, and Japanese whiskey.
