Rising energy and raw material prices have hit the hospitality sector particularly hard, according to a survey published by the Office for National Statistics, the Financial Times reports.

According to official data released on Thursday, half of UK businesses reported an increase in the prices of materials, goods, or services bought in March, a figure that rises to 77% in the accommodation and food services sector.

In addition, one in five businesses reported their turnover decreased in March compared with the previous month, a share that rises to more than one in three in the hospitality sector.
