Adrian Posnett, managing director of Peterborough-based Oakham Ales, has been appointed partner in the company as it eyes expansion of its 70-barrel brewery. Posnett, who joined the company in January 2010 and became MD in May that year, will be the third partner at Oakham Ales, joining senior partner Paul Hook and John Bryan, production director. Oakham Ales said: “Posnett plans to drive sales and boost production to ensure that the plant fulfils its potential capability.” This includes working with distributors and other regional brewers to increase national distribution, introducing a bottled beer range and increasing marketing and public relations support. The company also wants to increase the number of pub stockists with the “Oakademy of Excellence” stamp, meaning they serve the beer well, from the current figure of 175. Hook said: “Adrian has already proved himself an asset to the business, since he took over at the helm last year. We are delighted to appoint him a partner, as his experience and easy manner, coupled with his ability to make things happen, make him the right person to grow Oakham Ales and help establish our beer brands nationally.” Oakham Ales opened in 1993 in Oakham, Rutland, as a 10-barrel brewhouse. The current brewery was opened in Woodston, Peterborough in 2006. In September 2010 a new warehouse was purchased on the adjoining site that doubled the warehouse area and a new malt room was commissioned in February 2011.
