Liberty Cheesesteak Company, the Philadelphia-style sandwich concept, is to open its first standalone restaurant site next year in London’s Fitzrovia.

The business, which is the brainchild of Philadelphia-raised JP Teti and focuses solely on the city’s classic sandwich, will open Passyunk Avenue at 80 Cleveland Street.

Teti – who graduated with an MBA from the London Business School – began selling cheesesteaks from pop-ups across the capital.

Originally launched from a stall, the concept experienced such high demand that Teti launched a site at Spitalfields market.

Teti said his standard of sandwiches ‘can’t be found anywhere else outside of Philadelphia’.

“We pride ourselves on being the first and only producer of authentic Philly cheesesteaks in London and focus our efforts on bringing real culture transference which we pour into our finished product,” said Teti.

“From the process of sourcing the finest produce, to the ordering experience, our aim is to bring real urban American cuisine to the streets of London.”
