Kent Inns of Distinction, a privately-owned restaurant and hotel group, has doubled its portfolio with the opening of two new sites. The company owned by husband and wife team Richard and Sherry Martin has launched the Ivy Dining Room and Bar in Tonbridge and Harvey’s Fish Market and Oyster Bar in Ramsgate Harbour. The partners invested £500,000 in refitting the two restaurants, which they acquired as derelict sites. John Burton-Race, the celebrity chef has joined the company as development chef to help with new menus and training as the company expands. The group currently also runs The Dog Inn at Wingham near Canterbury and The Blazing Donkey Country Hotel in Ham, Sandwich.
