Just Falafel, the UAE-based falafel chain, has signed franchise agreements to open 160 restaurants in the US and Canada over the nest five years.
The company said it had signed five area franchise agreements with different partners in New York City, New Jersey, Kentucky and San Francisco in the US and the Greater Toronto Area in Canada.
Fadi Malas, Just Falafel chief executive, said: “Just Falafel’s expansion in North America follows our other international success story in the United Kingdom, where we opened our first restaurant in 2013.
“Expanding in North America gives us the opportunity to capitalise on the growth of the world’s largest consumer market.”
Last year Just Falafel reportedly hired advisors to launch an IPO.
In the UK, the format has so far been rolled out to a handful of sites in London and yesterday M&C reported that it has secured its first UK site outside of London, in Romford, Essex.
