East and West Restaurants has opened its ninth site under its multi-cuisine concept, Jimmy’s World Grill & Bar, and is believed to have a further three openings lined up for this year.

The group, which plans to operate 20 sites under the format by the end of 2014, has recently opened in Watford, close to the town’s train station, and has further openings in Coventry, Newcastle and Wembley lined up for later this year.

Last year, it demerged the business from its eight-strong Jimmy Spices chain.

The group, which is led by chief executive Amrik Uppal and his brother and chief operating officer Kuldip Singh, completed the construction of a £1m central distribution hub last autumn, which it said would redefine distribution and quality control amongst its restaurants while saving 30% on costs per annum.

Based in Solihull, the 16,000sq ft former derelict building has been transformed to provide a head office, training and communications facility and a state-of-the-art warehouse that provides an area to train young apprentices in skills such as cooking, bakery, butchery and food hygiene.
