Jamie’s Italian, the casual-dining chain, has launched a standalone pizzeria at its site in Cambridge, M&C Report understands.

The group, which recently opened its 34th UK site in Newcastle, has opened the standalone venue upstairs at the Cambridge site. It features a small selection of oven-baked pizzas priced at between £8-£9.50 and a number of extras prices at £1. It is open from 5-11pm every day and from 12pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The company has previously added a deli to its site in Bath and recently secured permission to do the same at its St Albans restaurant.

It has another opening lined up for its core brand in Harrogate for later in the year, although this may slip into 2015.

Earlier this year, managing director Simon Blagden said that the group’sTrattoria site in Richmond, which was launched last year, was performing “brilliantly” and that the format had the potential to expand further across the UK than its core brand, “into areas which are too small for Jamie’s”.

Blagden said: “We are currently looking at a number of opportunities for further Trattoria’s in the South East and especially in the Home Counties. We would like to add a couple more under the brand this year.”
