Herman Ze German, the bratwurst and beer concept, is opening its first site outside London, in Birmingham Grand Central.

The brand has applied to open at the former Square Pie unit for its fifth UK site, and follows a recent opening in the WestWorks development in White City.

Herman Ze German was founded as a street food operation by German couple Florian Frey and Azadeh Falakshahi.

Pat Farrell, formerly of Red Dog Restaurants, has been managing director of the brand for the last 12 months.

It will serve currywurst - fries topped with chopped up Black Forest sausage in curry sauce, hotdogs, schnitzels, and a range of German beers.

Herman Ze German will join other new Grand Central restaurants Holy Moly Macaroni , Tasty Plaice , Thai Express and Comptoir Libanais .
