Heavenly Desserts is looking to open another four sites before the end of the year, MCA has learnt.

The high-end dessert café chain, which is due to open its 12th store in Huddersfield today (6 September), at 34 John William Street, has sites secured in Colchester (5 High Street), Manchester, Sheffield and Walsall for openings before Christmas.

Yousif Aslam, managing director, told MCA: “We have a good pipeline of stores in 2019, and are looking to open about 10-15 sites next year.”

An opening is planned in the new multi-million pound retail and leisure development Rusden Lakes, in Northamptonshire early in 2019. “In Q1 and Q2 we are looking to open Ilford and Cardiff, and we have just signed on a site in Cambridge, which will probably open in Q3,” added Aslam.

While the business saw a slight dip in sales during the period of very hot weather earlier this summer, Aslam says that performance within the estate has been “absolutely fantastic and we’ve had a brilliant summer”. “Our new site openings have helped to raise the profile of the existing sites,” he added.

In March this year MCA reported that the business had had an offer accepted on a site in Mile End, which was due to be its first London opening, however Aslam said the site had fallen through at the last minute and negotiations with that franchisee have now moved to a site in Stratford.
