Gresham Inns, the fledgling business led by entrepreneur Will Clayton, has reported that 90% of its rooms in London have been pre-sold for the Olympic period. Clayton said: “There’s been an amazing uplift in bookings and enquiries over the past few weeks, as if people have finally woken-up to the fact that this is happening. In a two week period from the start of the year, we’ve sold just over 90% of our available beds.” “I’m still certain that the Olympics won’t be the shot in the arm many in the trade think it will be – I think those in and around the parks will benefit, but that for every person that comes into London for the Olympics, they’ll be one who wants to get the hell away from the Circus, much like most operators experienced during the Royal Wedding last year.” Gresham operates three venues across the capital including The Pride of Paddington, which has 54 beds.
