Greene King is understood to have appointed Clive Chesser, senior operations director at its tenanted arm Pub Partners, to the role of business unit director in the division, following the resignation of Pub Partners managing director Simon Longbottom, M&C Report has learnt.
Longbottom is leaving Pub Partners to become chief executive of managed operator Stonegate, replacing Toby Smith, who resigned last week.
It’s understood that Chesser will report to Jonathan Webster, managing director of Greene King’s Destination Pubs (Retail) division, suggesting that his will be a different role to that of Longbottom, who reports directly to chief executive Rooney Anand.
According to Stonegate, Longbottom will take up his new position “on a date to be agreed”. “Toby Smith has agreed to work with Simon to ensure a smooth handover of the business and build on the growth that Stonegate has delivered this year,” the company said on Friday.
Chesser has been at Greene King since June 2009, prior to which he was divisional director at Enterprise Inns, where he had overall responsibility for 560 leased and tenanted pubs in the south of England.
Greene King did not comment at the time of publication.
