A French court has sentenced a 47-year-old sheep farmer to three months in prison for ransacking a McDonalds last year. He targeted the restaurant with fellow protestors as a symbol of what they called a worldwide invasion of lousy food.

He was accused of leading a commando operation in which he and fellow protestors

dismantled a unit that was under construction. Three of the protestors got two-month suspended sentences and five others were fined E304.90 (£186.54). The court acquitted another.
