Five Guys, the popular US burger chain, has secured a site in Bluewater for an opening in early spring as it moves towards its target of having 30 sites in the UK by the end of the year.

The group, which recently secured its first site in the north, in Manchester’s Trafford Centre, has secured a new 2,970sq ft site that will be situated on the lower level of The Plaza.

The company has already secured further openings over the next few months in Kingston, Guildford and Uxbridge. It is also in talks on sites in Lakeside, Leeds and Birmingham.

Neville Mailing, head of property at Five Guys, said: “Bluewater was on our list of locations from day one.  It gives us the buzz and atmosphere of London in a location that provides access to a unique catchment.  Bluewater has also been a highly successful location for other new brands that have chosen it to launch outside of London, so we are in confident company. We are excited to be opening early spring.”

Guy Thomas, head of retail leasing at Lend Lease, said: “Five Guys is a great addition to The Plaza’s entertainment dining offer, and complements our already strong line up. Five Guys highlights how sought after Bluewater is amongst leading UK and international brands.”
