Dogus Group, the Istanbul-based conglomerate, has acquired a 50% stake in the Azumi Group, the parent company of the Zuma and Roka restaurant chains, with plans to launch the concept into new international markets and develop new brands. The value of the stake, which was acquired through a subsidiary of the Dogus Group, was undisclosed. Zuma was launched 10 years ago by Arjun Waney and Raine Becker, in Knightsbridge, with further openings following in Bangkok, Hong Kong, Miami, Istanbul and Dubai. Sister chain Roka launched its first site in Charlotte Street, London, in 2004. A second Roka site in the UK opened in Canary Wharf in 2010. The pair also operate a restaurant under the Roka name in Hong Kong. Becker and Waney are set to operate a 32nd-floor restaurant, featuring a rotisserie and grill, in The Shard near London Bridge next year. Earlier this month, Trilantic Capital Partners, the private equity firm, sold its stake in the Turkish restaurant operator Istanbul Doors Group to Dogus. In 2010 IDG bought a controlling stake in Tom Aiken's restaurant business.
