Dishoom has been named the fourth best company to work for, as part of an annual listing.

The UK’s Best Companies to Work For ranking, which was released on Friday, uses a survey to determine an accreditation score. The scoring system ranges from ‘one to watch’ to a three-star accreditation for ‘world class’ levels of workplace engagement.

Dishoom, which appeared on the ‘Best Large Companies’ list with a three-star rating, is the highest-ranking company in the leisure and hospitality sector. The Bombay-inspired restaurant group is joined on the list by several operators, including Hickory’s Smokehouse at number 11, The Coaching Inn Group at number 21, Peach Pub Company at 24, Hawksmoor at 27 and Mowgli Street Food at 28.

Peach managing director Hamish Stoddart said 2021 marked the fifth year the company has been recognised.

“We worked incredibly hard to look after the physical and mental well-being of our people especially during lockdown,” said Stoddart. “We took the opportunity to reaffirm our support to our team, both financially and through keeping in close contact and volunteering together to support the towns we’re proud to be at the heart of.

”We have come through together, staying true to our vision of being a great place to work, learn and grow. We are delighted to be recognised as a Three Star, world-class employer.”

Hawksmoor people director Ceri Gott explained that the awards are based on anonymous questionnaires filled in by staff.

“It is incredible that Hawksmoor is ranked as one of the top 30 companies to work for in the UK in 2021 (from any industry) given the traumatic year people have had in hospitality,” said Gott. “It really is testament to the spirit and resilience of people in the industry, and to how seriously we take being a good employer and supporting staff.”
