Curzon Cinemas has announced plans to open up to 25 new outlets in the next five years.

The boutique cinema operator plans to open up to five cinemas of between 6,000-15,000sq ft in the next year in London suburban neighbourhoods, as well as in locations such as Brighton, Edinburgh, St Albans, Oxford, Surrey and Kent.

The group currently operates six sites across London, and recently opened a unit in Knutsford, East Cheshire. It has already signed on a further site in Victoria as part of the Buckingham Gate redevelopment.

Colliers International and Savills are advising Curzon.

Ross Kirton, director, licensed and leisure at Colliers, said: “We are very keen to consider properties of unusual configurations and design, in keeping with the style of brand – this might mean we look at upper floors above retail parades and basements as well small office buildings, community halls and disused retail/leisure property.

“Primarily we are seeking sites in affluent towns but ones which might be struggling with high street malaise where a new leisure destination can really add a tremendous boost.”
