Costa has warned its Coffee Club Card members of a potential security breach after its online accounts were hacked and accounts were suspended.

The problem, which was confined to users in the UK, was found to have affected users of the loyalty card scheme after unusual activity was detected on some accounts.

Passwords will be reset in the coming days and online access to accounts will be suspended until then but customers can continue to use the loyalty cards in store.

In a statement, Costa said: “We have already contacted those customers affected and emailed all registered Coffee Club members to make them aware of the situation. Customers can still continue to collect and redeem points as usual.”
