Costa Coffee is to strengthen its presence in the UK’s forecourt sector after signing an agreement with petrol forecourt operator Motor Fuel Group (MFG) to supply its 48-strong estate with its Express self-service vending machines. Tony Walker, MFG’s non fuel director, said: “As part of our planned shop refit programme, we are pleased to be integrating an acknowledged market leading, quality coffee into our customer offering. By the end of this year, some 27 of our stations will be offering Costa and the rest of our current estate will be complete by mid 2013 and, as we grow, the Costa brand will grow with us.” Earlier this year, Costa announced a long-term partnership with Shell UK to install Costa Express self-serve coffee bars in more than 550 Shell forecourts in the UK. In June, Whitbread, which currently has 1,714 Costa Express units, said that it may over-achieve its target of opening 1,000 Costa Express sites in its full year.
