CI Traders confirmed reports over the weekend that it had received an unsolicited approach, which may or may not lead to an offer for the company, from an unnamed party. The group said that a further announcement would be made ‘in due course’. The Times reported that CI Traders had failed to respond to a bid from Alchemy made more than seven weeks ago. Alchemy offered 85p a share for the entire share capital of the group, formed when Channel Islands groups Le Riche Group and Ann Street Group merged three years ago. CI Traders sold Bluebeckers and Edwins Brasseries in Britain to The Restaurant Group in June for £27m.
