Chewy Junior, the international bakery takeout operator specialising in cream puffs, is targeting up to 10 stores in the UK within three years after opening its first site in central London. Azril Azhar, UK master franchiser of Chewy Junior, opened the 600sq ft outlet in Villiers Street, Charring Cross, three months ago after buying the master franchise rights from the Singapore owner, reports M&C Report’s sister title British Baker. Azhar said he hoped to have three or four London branches in the first year, then look further afield, with Liverpool and Manchester top of his list. “I am focusing on London, because that is where tourists are. We are still new and still teaching people what a cream puff is. After year two, I would like to have about 10 stores.” Chewy Junior specialises in 18 variants of cream puff that sell for £1.90 for deluxe and £1.60 for the mini size. There are currently c.25 Chewy Junior outlets across the world, with sites in Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, South Korea and Qatar. Azhar said he planned to introduce a more premium range and savory options.
