Bank Restaurant Group (BRG), which owns and operates the Bank Aldwych, Bank Birmingham and Bank Westminster restaurants plus the Zinc Bar and Grills chain, has announced the sale of its Zinc Fulham premises to an undisclosed buyer. The sale of the site follows a portfolio review undertaken by the company after it acquired the five-strong chain of Zinc Bar and Grills in December last year for £1.5m. The company received a cash consideration of £350,000, after costs for the Fulham site, which it reported made a loss of £63,000 in its accounts for the year to 31 March. BRG said has said it will use the proceeds from the disposal to fund further expansion. A new Zinc restaurant, which will now be the company’s fifth, is set to open at the Trafford Centre in Manchester before the end of the month, closely followed by the launch of the first restyled Zinc in Heddon Street, London. The company expects to restyle the entire Zinc estate by mid-2007, and also hopes to have in total 10 Zinc restaurants in operation by the end of next year. The new format, which has been designed to capture a broader customer base, will include the introduction of a new menu the company believes will put “a greater emphasis on all-day dining and further update the premium casual dining experience at Zinc”.
