Bibigo, the Korean fast food concept, owned by CJ Corp, one of South Korea’s largest food manufacturers, is to make its debut in the UK later this year in London’s Soho.

The concept started as a small chain of Korean restaurants but has since expanded to include site in Singapore, Beijing and Los Angeles and plans to make its first opening in Soho’s Great Marlborough Street the first of a handful of sites in the UK.

It plans to open up to 20 restaurants in eight countries by the end of this year.

A company spokesman said: “The London store will help increase public awareness of CJ as well as Korean food in Europe.”

The new restaurant will serve bibimbap, acorn jelly salad, jellyfish and shrimp salad, ginseng orange salad and other traditional Korean dishes, with some recipes will be modified for British consumers.

Last year, it entered the US retail market with the launch of its own sauces.
